The Challenges Project

Arizona State University is the foundational model for the New American University.  Which means, among other things, our work is designed to impact our community.

taking on challenges – that's what we do

"The successful ASU graduate is a change agent, equipped with the knowledge, ability and desire to lead and change the world."
– Elizabeth D. Capaldi,
ASU executive vice president and provost

At Arizona State University, there are literally hundreds and hundreds of activities underway across every corner of the campus addressing issues related to education, economic prosperity, sustainability, human rights, vibrant communities, personal health and well-being and the origins of the universe. Through this project, we will demonstrate ASU's commitment to creating local solutions to these issues that will have global impact. We can bring to life the big, bold ideas at the core of the New American University, giving people the opportunity to connect and be part of the solution.

the challenges before us

  • how do we educate in a rapidly changing world?
  • how do we focus information and technology to produce meaningful change?
  • how do we build strong, vibrant communities?
  • how do we create a sustainable way of life?
  • how do we promote economic opportunity and security?
  • how do we lead healthier, more fulfilling lives?
  • how do we defend and extend human rights?
  • how do we understand the past and present for the sake of the future?

join us in finding solutions

An enterprise this bold needs supporters. The magnitude of opportunities and risks is daunting, but those who partner with ASU will see that we have the intellectual power, confidence and vision essential to success.
